About Me

My Philosophy. My Family. My Why.

I became a Financial Advisor for a few reasons. I love learning—I knew I couldn’t start a career in a field that didn’t allow me to constantly learn. Which leads me to my why:

I chose to specialize in serving academics and educators because of their shared love of learning. The impact you have to help shape the next generation is inspiring, and the idea of possibly helping educators become financial success stories that they share with their students fuels my drive to keep learning. I want to serve you in the best way I can so that you can focus on your students, family, and self.

Working with an advisor is personal—we will have hard conversations, we will have setbacks, but we will also share in your successes. Learn more about me to see if we will be a good fit below.

WHERE DID YOU GROW UP?

I was born and raised in the UK, spending a lot of time in Oxford and the Chilterns. I moved to Canada in 2014 and lived in Regina for five years. My wife and I decided to move to Saskatoon in 2018 and are loving it.

FAMILY SITUATION?

I am married to my amazing wife, Sierra. She has taught me a lot throughout knowing each other. We are polar opposites; I was extremely logical and fact-driven—a lot of people would say cold because of my upbringing, and she is very feeling-oriented. Over the years, she has rubbed off on me for the better in a massive way. She has taught me to be more in tune with others’ feelings and look for how people will be affected emotionally. I believe this has helped me to become a balanced advisor and has pushed me to explore coaching and financial behaviours.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN?

As boring as it sounds, between the usual Netflix binges with Sierra (or as you’ll get to know her, Seese), playing with our dog Seika, or visiting cute fluffy puppies at local rescues, I learn. I love learning. I am not content unless I am improving or learning.

WHAT IS YOUR EDUCATION BACKGROUND?

I currently hold three designations, The CFP or Certified Financial Planner, CIM or Chartered Investment Manager, and the RIS or Responsible Investment Specialist. The CFP proves that I am an expert in financial planning, financial management, investment planning, insurance and risk management, tax planning, retirement planning, and estate planning and legal aspects. You can learn more about it here.

The CIM was for the numbers side of me. I got this designation so I could gain specialization with high-level investment strategies for affluent clients.

A while ago, I integrated a responsible investment approach with all the investment strategies I use. The level I go to depends on the client. You can learn more about my investment approach here.

At the core, I believe in making choices for yourself to live the life you want to. Will Smith put it well when he said,

“You don’t set out to build a wall. You don’t say ‘I’m going to build the biggest, baddest, greatest wall that’s ever been built.’ You don’t start there. You say. ‘I’m going to lay this brick as perfectly as a brick can be laid.’ You do that every single day. And soon you have a wall.”

My Approach & Philosophy

Time is tight. Between juggling a successful career, family, and hobbies, personal finance can end up on the back burner.

I help educators automate success to achieve their financial goals while focusing on other parts of their life. I dive deep into cash flow management—this can be uncomfortable for both clients and advisors, which is why many don’t do it. But it’s essential to get the foundation right before we build on it.

Once you combine cash flow management with a high income, the most challenging part of wealth creation is over.

My Planning Process:

  1. Understand your complete financial picture
  2. Create models that allow us to project your net worth in the future
  3. Use this model to help you make financial decisions

My Cash-Flow Process:

  1. Understand your current cash flow
  2. Separate your personal finances from your investing finances
  3. Use your new understanding of your cash flow to automate success
